If you're looking for spiritual growth with academic excellence, welcome to Babcock university. It still came as a shock to us when we were told that worship was going to be for 10 consecutive days at the beginning of the semester. The turn up was appreciable (nice one BU students). Many came out each with their own objectives.
'Good evening Babcock university!' the voice of Prof. Makinde, the school's president resounded each night as he told stories, worldwide tales of how he made it to the top. The part that probably aroused everyone's attention were the talks on marriage. I saw boys up on their feet responding boldly to the marital prayers as the good pastor proclaimed blessings on our future.
Each day's sermon was related to both biblical and present day incidents like Pastor Makinde's incident with the military at the border of three countries showing God's delivering powers.
And we all got a good laugh from the funny reactions on people's faces as they were displayed on the screen.
Surprisingly quite a number of people responded to the altar call the pastor made after each sermon and some went ahead and got baptised.
The week came to a close with a variety section on Saturday evening were various talented students contributed to the worship. The presence of Iperu campus students spiced it up. Xpressions proved their worth once again by showing the importance of the week's worship through a hilarious play.
The holiness club, an association of like minds saying no to drugs, pre-marital sex, cheating as well as gangs and violence was created and dedicated to God by Pastor Makinde.
That it was termed a' spiritual week, did not mean that everyone took it spiritual. Some took it as an opportunity to seek out their missing ribs. Those that had already found theirs saw an opportunity to bind themselves the more. Others just came for the fresh air, as it was an open field event and some also came for the mandatory card signing.
But as many that sincerely attended the programmeespecially the viewers who enjoyed the satellite broadcast from various countries, we could see the truth in the theme 'An amazing future, God at work.'
Plz y won't babcock let students go home?? Don't we have the rights to vote? #messd up admin
